September 18, 2013 - Midweek Group Tournament Results

On September 18th the BCGC Midweek Group , 26 in all, met to compete in a stroke play tournament. The weather, except for some gusty winds, was really nice with pretty skies and mild temperatures. The course was in good shape thanks to some heavy watering which managed to find low spots off the fairway.

In the Men’s A flight, Haruo Makimoto led the pack with an 84/net 67, followed closely by Dave Springer (86/70) and Doug Swann (87/71).

In the Men’s B flight, Roy Fukushima was low man shooting 96, net 68, nosing out Ron McKenna (98/70) and Don Sperling (108/73).

On the softer side, the ladies flight was led by Barbara Conerly’s net 71, besting Jean Chong’s net 74 and Joyce Makimoto’s net 75.

In the "Closest to Pin" competition, the winners were as follows:
Men’s A Men’s B Ladies

#12: Dick Jones (11’-7”) Manny Jauregui (10’-6”) Joyce Makimoto (31’)
#17 Dick Carlson (14’-7”) Ron McKenna (7’-5”) Kuniko Takeuchi (36’)

In the optional skins game, 10 members got in the game and there were 7 skins made: Glen Kinion got 3 skins at #3 (3), #11 (4), and #14 (3); Don Sperling scored 2 skins at #8 (2) and #17 (1); and Haruo Makimoto and Ron McKenna each scored a skin at #10 (3) and #12 (1), respectively.
Next month we have scheduled our annual Club Championship, a 36 hole tournament to be staged on the 9th and 16th of October. More on that soon, but mark your calendars for sure. You must play both days, paying in advance.

Hope to see you there,
