August 14, 2013 - Midweek Group Tournament Results

"Mr. 62" Myron Dahl

On August 14th, 16 members of Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Club teed it up for an 18 hole stroke play tournament. The weather was nice, not too hot, with a slight breeze. The course was in good shape, but with all the necessary watering, our 7:30 starting time landed us in some wet conditions with some tall clover if one strayed from the fairway at all.

Myron Dahl must not have strayed too often, shooting a sweet 80 (62 net!!) to take the honors in the Men's A group. Dave Springer had a nice round too, coming in 2nd place firing an 83, net 65. Leon Taylor came in third shooting an 86, net 68.

In the Men's B flight, Ron McKenna shot 95, net 67, followed by John Hawck, 97/68 and Mike McKenna at 92/69.

For the ladies, Jean Chong continued her winning ways with a net 77 and Joyce Makimoto came in second scoring a net 78. Good shooting from all of you, thanks. And thanks for your understanding when, due to late scratches, it became necessary to shuffle the advertised pairings to avoid sending out singles. For those of you not around to collect your winnings, I will save them for you until next time, or mail them to you later.

In the optional skins game, Myron Dahl's net 1 on #12 scored him one, Roy Fukushima's net 2 on #16 was another, and Bob Thomas's net 1 on #17 and net 2 on #18 earned him two skins. There were eight players in the game for these 4 skins.

There was a "Closest to Pin" contest at #17 also. This was won by Leon Taylor for the A flight with a distance of 20'-9" and Bob Thomas for the B flight at 5'-11". None of the ladies were eligible this time, sorry.

Next month, our Midweek group will play on the 18th, first tee at 8:03 AM. More on that around the first of the month. Thanks again to all of you.

Bob Thomas
Midweek Tournament Chair
