Hole 17 - "Make or Break"

On Wednesday, May 21, 2014 was another beautiful day for golf at Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course with temps in the 80’s and a slight breeze.  Playing in this month’s tournament, we had 23 members gave it their all with the following results:

In the Men’s A Flight, Haruo Makimoto shot an 85, net 66 to nose out Dave Springer’s 84, 67 net. Eric Edgar came in third place with a 79, net 68 and Sam Kipp was fourth with the lowest gross score of the day, a nice 77 (net 70). 5th place, for POY points was Jim Coombs.

In the Men’s B Flight, by virtue of a back nine tie-breaker, Ron McKenna’s 96, net 65 was determined to be the winner over Bob Thomas’ 91, net 65. Garry Lowe took third place with an 87, net 66 and Don Sperling came in 4th with his 104, net 68. 5th place , for POY points, was Glen Kinion.

In the Ladies Flight, Marie Hart’s beautiful 88, net 63, took top honors. Eat your heart out guys! Barbara Conerly took second with a nice 95, net 67. Joyce Makimoto, Jean Chong and Kuniko Takeuchi filled out the top 5 positions for POY points.

Hole #12:  Ron McKenna 33’-1”

Ladies:

Hole #5:  Marie Hart, 25’-1”
Hole #12:  Jean Chong, 48’-1”

And for the optional net skins game, 13 players scored 9 skins:
Thomas, a 2 on #2, Makimoto, a 2 on #3 and also #14, Springer’s 2 on #7, Kinion, a 2 on #9, a 4 on #11 and a 2 on #16, McKenna’s 1 on #12 and Sperling’s 2 on #13.
